Matthew Edwards
Elena Edwards
Japanese-English translator
Matthew first became interested in the Japanese language and culture when
he had the opportunity to take a Japanese 'taster' at the age of seventeen.
He then went on to study Japanese at Cambridge University, graduating
in 1994 with a first class honours degree. After graduation, Matthew worked
for several years as a broker in the reinsurance sector, arranging reinsurance
covers for Japanese insurance company clients. During this time, he travelled
regularly to Tokyo and developed a strong understanding of Japanese business
culture. Prior to becoming a full-time translator in 2001, Matthew also
worked for Sony's Investor Relations division, liaising with European
institutional investors in the company across all of its business segments.
Matthew is a qualified Member of the Institute
of Translation & Interpreting (for Japanese to English translation)
and a Member of the Chartered
Institute of Linguists, as well as an Associate of the Chartered
Insurance Institute.
